Ridge Mining plc (RDG) – Blue Ridge Project Update

Ridge Mining plc announces that commissioning of the Blue Ridge concentrator plant commenced on 12 January 2009 and is progressing well. First ore is expected to be processed mid February 2009 and first concentrate produced around the end of February 2009.

On 15 December 2008 the Company announced that it had been notified by Bateman Engineering, the contractor constructing the concentrator plant, that following a minor accident during the plant construction, and a subsequent review of safety provisions, the commissioning of the plant at Blue Ridge was rescheduled to the last week of January 2009. Good progress made over the holiday period in South Africa has meant that this revised target has been met ahead of schedule.

The underground mining development continues to progress according to plan, and a stockpile in excess of 250,000 tonnes of ore is on surface, ready for processing once the plant is commissioned.

Mr. Terence Wilkinson, Chief Executive, said “I am particularly proud of the achievement of our technical management, in conjunction with Bateman, in ensuring that the revised commissioning target has been met despite the extended Christmas holiday period in South Africa”.
