Murgitroyd Group PLC – Appointment of NED and Deputy Chairman

Murgitroyd Group PLC (AIM: MUR), the European Patent and Trade Mark Attorney practice, announces that Mr Willie MacDiarmid has been appointed to the Board of the Company as Non-executive Director and Deputy Chairman with effect from 1 April 2019.  He takes on the latter role from Edward Murgitroyd who became CEO of Murgitroyd Group PLC in February this year.

Willie MacDiarmid is a proven executive with a range of public company experience in both executive and non-executive roles, most notably in the utilities and business services sectors.  He held senior positions, including Energy Retail Director, with Scottish Power from 1989 until 2006. During the period 2009 to 2012 he was Chief Operating Officer of EAGA PLC;  in 2012 a Non-executive Director and then Chief Executive of May Gurney PLC; and in 2014 interim CEO of Barchester Healthcare Limited.  Mr MacDiarmid was appointed a Non-executive Director of Smart Metering Systems plc in 2014 and became Chairman in 2016 

Willie is currently chairman of Fallago Rigg, a joint venture between Hermes Capital and EDF Renewables, and chairman of Ogilvie Group, a Stirling‐based family owned business with interests spanning construction, fleet hire and IT.  Willie also works with senior executives across various industries mentoring and providing one-to-one coaching.
