May Gurney awarded £50m highways maintenance contract

May Gurney, the support services company providing essential maintenance and enhancement services to clients in the public and regulated sectors, has been awarded Harrow Council’s highways maintenance contract, valued at up to £50 million.

Starting in April 2012, the initial contract period with Harrow Council is for five years with an option to extend for a further two years. The contract has been awarded in three “bundled services” lots and includes maintenance of the Council’s key infrastructure assets – highways, carriageways, footways, streetlights, gullies, and watercourses. As part of the contract, May Gurney will also undertake maintenance of highways infrastructure assets belonging to London Underground and Overground, as well as watercourses belonging to the Environment Agency.

May Gurney’s current forward order book stands at £1.5 billion (including framework agreements but excluding extensions) and there is a strong pipeline of bidding opportunities and potential contract extensions worth in excess of £4 billion in May Gurney’s core markets.
