Just Car Clinics – Research Note
Just Car Clinics was originally the car repair business of Dixon Motors PLC and was created through a management buyout in January 2003, when the company joined AIM following the reverse takeover of Bikenet. The company operates vehicle repair centres and these are brightly coloured units which are either purpose built or modern redevelopments. All are in central locations and aim to make customers feel more at ease than they may normally do at other body repair centres. There is a drive to establish a “team culture” within the business and staff turnover is relatively low.
The group’s head office is in Goole where it also has its training and support centre. Although originally concentrated in the North East of England, acquisitions have seen the group expand its area of operations and branches have been opened as far away as Banbury and Swindon. Further expansion is anticipated through acquisitions, subject to strict criteria being met. The addition of a site in Keighley, West Yorkshire earlier this year brought the total number of sites to 26, exactly double the number owned as recently as 2006.
The group obtains most of its work from its insurance company partners, which include some of the biggest names in the insurance industry. The insurance companies want to be able to provide a high quality and efficient repair service for their clients and Just Car Clinics has proved that it can provide this. As well as repair work, the company is continually looking at additional and enhanced services which can be offered to customers. For instance, full valets and cleaning services, paintwork protection, parking sensors and cosmetic work such as paintless dent removal are available. In the economic downturn the offering has also been extended to more cosmetic repairs, tyre fitting and servicing. The company uses a pioneering IT system that allows customers, insurers and brokers to track the progression of their individual vehicle repairs.
